What is proctology?

The term proktós comes from the Greek and means anus. Therefore, proctologists are physicians who specialize in the treatment of the rectum and anus.

Proctology is an additional qualification and not a specialist in its own right. Therefore, depending on the specialty, proctologists have different specialties:

  • Surgery: treatment of hemorrhoids and anal fissures such as sclerotherapy, ligation and surgery.
  • Dermatology: eczema and skin diseases around the anus, e.g. psoriasis
  • Gastroenterology: gastro-intestinal diseases such as irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, constipation, and surgery. Intestinal diseases, constipation and intolerances.

Our main focus is on surgical proctology.

Our treatment focus

We offer the entire spectrum of proctology. Our focus is on minimally invasive therapy procedures. This includes, for example, the treatment of hemorrhoids, anal fissures (anal fissures), anal fistulas, abscesses and marisques (skin folds).

Our specialized doctors are all surgical specialists and will treat you safely and with minimal pain, whether for minor procedures or major surgery. You do not have to be afraid.

Hamorrhoids

Complaints with hemorrhoids are the most frequent reason for visiting our surgeries and most of the time the problems can be eliminated with little pain and in a short time. We offer the entire spectrum of hemorrhoid treatment, from sclerotherapy to inpatient surgery.

Anal fissure

These painful tears in the very sensitive area of the anus can lead to heavy bleeding and severely affect the quality of life of mostly younger people. Our goal is always to avoid surgery by a low-pain therapy and to take away the patients' fear.

Anal abscess

Inflammations in the anal area can often lead to abscesses, which are very painful and always require surgery. In most cases, these abscesses develop at the bottom of an anal fistula, which must always be clarified after an acute course.

Anal fistula

They are small ducts that originate from the rectum and spread into the subcutis of the anus with a close positional relationship to the sphincter muscle. Surgery of anal fistula is always required, which we offer on an outpatient basis with minimal pain.

Anal skin tag

Folds of skin on the anus that used to be incorrectly called "external hemorrhoids". Anal skin tags occur in all people and are harmless. In case of discomfort, we can easily remove the tags on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia.

Pilonidal cyst

For years, we have specialized in the minimally invasive treatment of patients suffering from the sinus pilonidalis (pilonidal cyst). In doing so, we have good alternatives to major surgical procedures such as the pit picking method or laser therapy.

Innovative therapies in our practice

Early on, we integrated modern therapy methods into our daily routine and can offer them safely due to a very large experience.

Due to our supra-regional expertise, we have concluded special contracts with health insurance companies, which means that for many patients the costs are completely covered.

Low pain hemorrhoid surgery Rafaelo®

We offer you the gentle Rafaelo® procedure. This surgery can be performed under local anesthesia on an outpatient basis, and you are ready to return to work immediately. Patients of BKK health insurances,

IKK BB and TK can take advantage of this new service as part of the "integrated care" with us, without additional costs.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) for sinus pilonidalis anal fissure and fistula.

In this therapy, growth factors and stem cells are taken from the patient's blood and injected, for example, in the case of a non-healing sinus or anal fistula/fissure. The tissue is stimulated to grow and leads to significantly faster wound or fistula closure.

Minimally Invasive Therapy of the Pilonidal Sinus

In the treatment of the pilonidal sinus, we prefer low-pain procedures with only a short downtime of about 1-2 weeks, such as pit picking and laser therapy instead of large wounds. We prefer to operate in our practice under local anesthesia.

Shock wave therapy for non-healing sinus pilonidalis

Long established in orthopedics, now a new therapy option for chronic wounds such as the non-healing sinus pilonidalis. The shock waves promote blood flow and result in the release of growth factors with the formation of new blood vessels.

Outpatient operations preferred

Proctology is a matter of trust. At our clinic, all patients are treated only by specialists who have specialized in the treatment of rectal diseases. You know your surgeon and can turn to him or her with confidence even after the operation. No anonymity or long waiting times in emergency rooms.

In proctology, most operations can be performed very well on an outpatient basis. As a patient, you have the following advantages:

  • You know your surgeons and anesthesia is performed by a very experienced anesthesiologist.
  • You do not have to be afraid of anesthesia and are guaranteed to wake up every time.
  • No waiting time before surgery and no appointment cancellations or postponements due to emergencies.
  • Friendly and individual care during the operation. We are always available for you.
  • No risk of infection with multi-resistant germs.
  • Better recovery in familiar surroundings, at your home.

Outpatient operations are performed in our practice in Berlin-Lankwitz, Kaiser-Wilhelm-Straße 24-26.

Nevertheless, there are also cases that have to be performed as in-patient operations with overnight stays. Here we operate in the Schöneberg Clinic and in the Havel Clinic.
